Reports from the Field: Two Stories from Our Colleague in Ghana

Editor’s note: Here we feature two recent stories produced by Adelaide Arthur, our journalistic colleague from Ghana. Arthur covers agriculture for Joy News on MultiTV-Ghana. She contributed to MU Earth during our coverage of the Borlaug Dialogue and World Food Prize in October. (Thanks to Professor Willi Meyers, director of CAFNR International Programs, for tipping us off to these stories.)

In this story, Arthur reports on smallholder farmers in Ghana and their struggles to make a living despite strenuous work and poor market conditions.

In this story, Arthur covers new studies that show the negative effects of climate change on agriculture in Ghana, including the possibility of a more than 40 percent drop in yields in the 21st century.
